The most important question

Who Was Jesus?

Was He just a prophet, a created being, or an angel? Or was He God in the flesh? Here's what the Bible says.

The Trinity and the Deity of Jesus Christ are some of the most misunderstood doctrines in all the world. People from other monotheistic religions sometimes call Christians polytheistic, saying we worship more than one God. That is not true!

Christians worship one God, but He is a triune God: one God in three Persons. And Jesus Christ is not a lesser god or a created being. He is fully God, who became fully man to save us from our sins.

In His own Word

The Bible says Jesus is God

Don't take our word for it. Read what Scripture says.

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
JOHN 1:1
"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."
JOHN 1:14
"Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."
JOHN 8:58
"And Thomas answered and said to Him, 'My Lord and my God!'"
JOHN 20:28
"For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily."
COLOSSIANS 2:9
"Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ."
TITUS 2:13

All Scripture quoted from the New King James Version.

The Trinity

One God in three Persons

The Bible teaches that there is only one God, and that the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are each fully God. They are not three gods, and they are not one Person wearing three masks.

  • There is one God. "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!" (Deuteronomy 6:4)
  • The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are each God. Each is called God in Scripture.
  • They are three distinct Persons. "Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19)
